Counselling and Psychotherapy service

Positive East provides a free and confidential counselling and pychotherapy service for people affected by HIV who live in or recieve clinical care in East London.

Our Counselling and Psychotherapy team can support you or refer you in to other appropriate voluntary or statutory services, including the GMI (Gay Men's Interactions) Partnership if you are a gay man.

Recently Diagnosed Course
We run a number of courses every year for people recently diagnosed with HIV. Lasting 8 weeks, the course covers issues such as medication, health issues, disclosure of HIV status, working and benefits.

The next series of sessions start on a Saturday 24th October (9.30am to 4.30pm), then run for eight consecutive Wednesdays evenings from 28th October to 16th December (5.30pm to 9.00pm). If you would like to find out more about the next course and what its aims are, click here.

Treatment, Adherence Support
We provide information and support for individuals commencing, changing or considering a treatment interruption or stopping medication.

Counselling and Psychotherapy Services
This free confidential service can support you with emotional issues on a one-to-one basis. We also offer advocacy, referrals and liaison with community support teams in both voluntary and statutory agencies. We have a number of qualified volunteer counsellors, offering one off appointments or on-going support.
