About Us

Positive East is the leading East London based HIV charity, operating previously as The Globe Centre and LEAN (London East AIDS Network) until we merged in 2005.

About Positive East - By building on more than 20 years of experience in the successful delivery of services across East London boroughs, we are now even more able to provide a fully comprehensive and co-ordinated practical and emotional support for those people living with and affected by HIV in East London.

What is our aim? - Our aim is to create a safe environment for people to come and receive peer and professional support. Central to all our services is the principle of self empowerment i.e. people, where ever possible, should be independent and in control of their lives. To help maintain independence and not create dependence. Our services are set up to work with people to encourage them to achieve this.

Our mission statement - "To improve the physical, economical, emotional and psychological quality of life for individuals and communities affected by HIV across East London"

With services delivered across two Centres, Stratford and Stepney as well as from our outreach venues, our goal is to maintain the provision of a high quality standard service, providing a flexibility of approach to meet the requirements of our uses. Please note: our Centres provide specialist services which are not be available from all our outreach locations, this is due to local funding arrangements and the availability of space.

Assessment and referral
To ensure we can provide the service to meet your requirements, we require all new service users to fill in a registration form and have an assessment. The assessment is confidential and helps us to accurately identify individual support needs and agree how we can best support you.

Our Governance

Governance is the monitoring of the systems and processes concerned with ensuring the overall direction, effectiveness, supervision and accountability of the Charity.
Governance is provided by the Board of Trustees, which oversees the charity, ensuring it fulfils its mission, lives up to its values and remains financially viable for the future. Positive East is a charity registered in England and Wales (1001582), and a company limited by guarantee (2546750). Our registered office is 29 Ludgate Hill, London EC4M 7JE.

Our Board of Trustees is responsible for overseeing the Charity's strategic operations and ensuring we continue to meet the obligations detailed in our mission statement, aims and objectives.
