About the GMI Partnership |
Pan-London HIV Prevention Partnership |
|
The GMI Partnership was formed in January 2008, with an Memorandum of Agreement running until at least 31st March 2011.
The Memorandum outlines the values, principles and structures of the GMI Partnership. The GMI Partnership has been funded for the next three years (2008/9 - 2010/11) to provide Health Trainer and Counselling services to men who have sex with men across London. |
In addition to the Health Trainer and Counselling services provided by the GMI Partnership, as part of the LGMHPP (London Gay Men's HIV Prevention Partnership) representatives of the GMI Partnership will be working with other agencies across London through a number of forums, to ensure a seamless and integrated service.

Health Trainer Services |
Counselling & Mentor service |
|
Health Trainers will often be the first point of contact for men who have sex with men on issues related to HIV prevention. Health Trainers will be based in either Stepney (Positive East), Greenwich (Metro Centre) or Hounslow (West London Gay Men's project) undertaking outreach in commercial venues (bars, clubs, PSV - Public Sex Venues), community agencies and clinical settings within that area. Those men who come into contact with Health Trainers will, where appropriate, be offered a 'life check'. This is intended to assist men identify their support needs, their current levels of knowledge, and discuss possible STI and HIV risk behaviour. This will also provide the person with a tailored action plan based on the health check. |
The Counselling & Mentoring service offers talking therapies which are designed to assist men who have sex with men:
This service is open to all men who have sex with men regardless of HIV status who have concerns with adopting or maintaining safer sex and HIV risk reduction behaviour. All men entering the Counselling Service will be offered a confidential assessment, and through a process of discussion will be able to identify the most appropriate talking therapy for them. |
