Part of the GMI Partnership

The GMI Partnership brings together three leading statutory and voluntary organisations in London to provide an integrated, interactive and interpersonal HIV prevention service for men who have sex with men.

About Positive East
Our Services

Positive East, based in east London has been providing support for communities affected by HIV for over 20 years.

Promoting the health, wellbeing and independence of people living with HIV and moving them out of crisis to a place where they are in control of their lives - lies at the heart of what Positive East is about.

In addition to its Gay Men's services, Positive East provides:

  • Advice services, incorporating issues relating to welfare rights, housing, immigration and asylum;
  • Our African services team provides advice and guidance to help meet the cultural and language needs of our African clients. Our specialist workers provide one to one counselling, advice referrals and advocacy to help support you to access the services you need. We additionally provide a range of support groups across east London, with workers fluent in Swahili, French, Lingala, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, Luganda, Italian & Shona;
  • Employment Services support, helping you with your options if you want to get back to work, such as CV's, job searching, interview techniques;
  • Counselling and Psychotherapy, providing one-to-one support for people recently diagnosed as well those with as long term.

Positive East's Gay Men's team provide an extensive range of services for gay, bisexual and MSMs (Men who have sex with men) in east London

We offer face to face, email, telephone and group based support and information on a range of issues reflecting the diversity of experiences, cultures and views in east London.

Our services include:

  • Fresh: One-to-one stop smoking support with access to Zyban and Nicotine Replacement Therapies (NPT);
  • Himat: Monthly support group for South Asian and Middle Eastern men, regardless of HIV status;
  • Kaleidoscope:Monthly group for Black gay, bisexual and MSMs regardless of HIV status, providing information and education based meetings and social events;
  • Positive Life: Group for HIV positive gay, bisexual and MSMs providing a social space as well as educational/information meetings and events;
  • Workshops on Thursdays: Arts-based group open to all men, no previous experience required;
  • Signpost East London: Unbiased, confidential telephone and web-based sexual health information service for gay, bisexual and MSMs.
