Positive East Annual reporting
How a charity works might seem a bit complicated. To help explain and provide a transparency in our operations, each year we produce an annual and a financial report, which summarises our activities, operational and fiscal over the previous 12 months.
Our accounts are prepared in accordance with the Charity Commission with applicable reporting standards which are subject to a full audit. They are agreed by our Board of Trustees, who have a remit to ensure we are compliant with the Charity’s aims and establish our overall strategy.
We hold each year an Annual General Meeting which is open to all our clients, volunteers and stakeholders.

As detailed in our current annual reports, we continued our work in improving the quality of life for individuals and communities affected by HIV.
In doing so, we set ourselves the ongoing challenge of:
- Enabling people living with HIV to fulfil their potential, better self manage living with HIV and be able to promote their health
- Contributed to addressing the issue of high rates of late diagnoses and preventing the onward transmission of HIV
- Challenging HIV related Stigma and Discrimination
We achieve this by:
- Adapting and utilising existing services with the development/introduction of new targeted community-focused programmes;
- Increasing our levels of partnership working with Health and Social Care services;
- Focusing on our community strengths and local networks, 2009 was a successful year for Positive East’s commitment of better futures for positive people.
