Emotional and Wellbeing support
Positive East provides free and confidential emotional and wellbeing services for people affected by HIV who live in or receive clinical care in east London. Our services can be tailored to your individual needs and include:
- Counselling and Psychotherapy services providing confidential 1-2-1 support around issues such as: coming to terms with HIV diagnosis; Sexual identity; Relationships; Personal crises.

- Re:Assure Women's project
The project aims to support refugee/asylum seeking women who are living with HIV/AIDS on their journey to overcoming traumatic experiences. We provide individual one-to-one psychological therapy for women and a six week group course on 'Self-expression, sex and relationships'.

- Recently Diagnosed Course
The course provides an opportunity for people diagnosed with HIV to learn more about living with the virus.
In a safe and supportive setting, along with others in a similar situation, the course allows you the opportunity to begin dealing with the impact of your diagnosis, and managing issues from relationships and health, to disclosure and transmission concerns.

GMI Partnership Counselling:
GMI Counselling service works from a variety of locations all across London and can offer clients sessions at all times of the day during the week and at weekends. Our free service gives men, regardless of their HIV status, space to talk about safer sex and learn how to reduce risk.
The Counselling Service focuses on outcomes by measuring cognitive and behaviour change, utilising CORE to measure the achievement of clinical outcomes and our BASK to measure the achievement of behavioural change in the context of behaviour, attitudes, skills and knowledge.
- Counselling takes the form of either Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) of eight 50 minute sessions, other forms of counselling being six sessions.
- Or our Long Term Service of 16 sessions with men meeting Counsellors across a wide variety of locations in London at various times of the day and days of the week.
