Peer Support - It's good to talk

As a person living with HIV there may be times when it would help to talk to someone who understands what you are going through and can help you see your way through a particular problem or issue. A Positive East Peer Support Volunteer may be just what you need.
Our trained Peer Support Volunteers are now available for up to six sessions, to provide support to people living with HIV through such issues as:

  • Supporting you after your diagnosis and basic HIV knowledge
  • Starting your treatment and adherence issues
  • Staying healthy within a budget
  • Relationship issues with friends, neighbours and family issues
  • Coping with changes in life and issues about disclosure
  • Improving your relationship with medical professionals
  • Signposting you to further areas of support and ways of helping yourself

Our Peer Support Volunteers have personal experience of living with HIV, being trained and mentored to provide this service. They can bring their life experience backed up by our rigorous training programme to provide help and support for you.
