Information for Health Workers

Our aim is to create a safe environment for people to come and receive peer and professional support. Central to all our services is the principle of self empowerment i.e. people, where ever possible, should be independent and in control of their lives. To help maintain independence and not create dependence. Our services are set up to work with people to encourage them to achieve this.

Working closely within the communities across east London, Positive East is uniquely able to offer information and discussion based environments for Health Workers to update their knowledge and skills in the HIV health promotion field.

We can provide sessions covering aspects such as:

  • HIV Awareness with a focus on the issues impacting on the specific communities living in east London.
  • HIV Needs a local overview of the current health needs of people with HIV in east London. Sex, relationships and HIV we run feedback needs review sessions highlighting the issues raised within our short courses (such as Re:Assure a group for refugee/asylum women living with HIV).
  • New HIV treatment strategies exploring issues related to HIV treatment, including current strategies, new approaches and drugs in the pipeline.
  • Women and HIV/ BME Men and HIV - With an ever-growing number of women/BME men living with HIV in the UK, there is an ever-present need to focus on HIV and gender.
