Free course – Sexuality, Gender and Mental Health

May 30, 2019 @ 10:30 am - 3:00 pm

People who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT), non-binary or do not identity with the gender assigned at birth, have a high risk of developing mental health difficulties.  This is often linked to stigma, discrimination and bullying as well other factors such as culture, age, location, community, religion and other psycho-social factors.

While we cannot change the views of others, we can provide education to promote openness and understanding. This course will explore definitions of sexuality, the experience of exploring and accepting sexual orientation, what is gender and gender identity and how it can impact mental health and what can be done to support people who are struggling with this.  Signposting to local and wider community supports will also be included.

This course will be delivered in partnership with Tower Hamlets Recovery College, and will therefore be open to both Recovery College and Positive East service users.

We have 8 spaces open to Positive East service users for this course.  To request a place, email Chantal Busbridge or call 0207 791 9302.
