HIV Voices: Talking Progress

April 19, 2018 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join HIV Voices and Positive East for a unique, one-off evening of immersive performance and storytelling!

Background:
Throughout March and April, Positive East are working in collaboration with HIV Voices to run a series of creative workshops for people living with HIV. The sessions are facilitated by Bakita:KK an HIV activist, trainer and past writer for HIV Voices, and Jessie Wyld, HIV Voices Learning and Participation Producer. The aim of the project is to creatively empower people living with HIV to tell their own stories on their own terms.

The Event:
To mark the end of the project we will be hosting a celebration event here at Positive East, where a handful of existing HIV Voices pieces will be presented alongside an exploration of the workshop process and a showcase of some new work that has emerged from the workshops.

Audience members will be given a unique opportunity to journey around the building of Positive East and witness new writing inspired by ‘talking progress’ – the overall theme of our workshops series. The writing will touch on the diverse experiences of what it means to live with HIV today, and how we conceptualise our futures.

There will also be a chance to hear more about the creative outcomes of the project, and to gain an insight into the invaluable work we do.
