Positive East is thrilled to welcome legendary author and LGBT+ activist, Armistead Maupin, to our building for a special evening celebrating his remarkable career.

Join us for a fascinating discussion with Maupin and renowned British actor, dancer, politician, and LGBT+ rights advocate, Lord Michael Cashman CBE. Lord Cashman will lead a conversation exploring Maupin’s life, work, and the enduring impact of his stories, which continue to be a beacon of hope and resistance.

In 1978, Maupin introduced the world to the vibrant life of San Francisco with the publication of the first Tales of the City novel. This groundbreaking series, spanning ten books, has gone on to captivate millions with its authentic and insightful portrayals of the LGBTQ+ community across decades.

The evening will feature a reading from Maupin’s work, followed by a discussion. A book signing will conclude the event, offering an opportunity to meet the author.

This is a rare opportunity to hear from one of our greatest storytellers and thinkers of our time. Don’t miss out!

100% of the event’s proceeds will benefit our Health and Wellbeing and prevention programmes.

This event is part of our wider ‘Rays of Resistance’ speaker series. Watch this space for upcoming details about the series.
