Join us at the Whitechapel Gallery for this panel talk chronicling the legacies of queer visual cultures, organising histories, and how contemporary artists are dialoguing with the past and responding to HIV and AIDS in their work today.
Alongside the gallery’s new exhibition of the work of Hamad Butt : Apprehensions, the panel will be posed questions by Positive East’s Dr Renee West and Dr Rageshri Dhairyawan from Barts Health NHS Trust and Queen Mary University. In this discussion Dominic Johnson, Ash Kotak, Prem Sahib, and Simon Watney will use Hamad Butt’s practice as a starting point to explore how artists have used creativity to interrogate, reflect, and agitate around HIV and AIDS.
Booking is via the Whitechapel Gallery’s website
