Sexual health service responsiveness to telephone requests for access to PrEP in London: a qualitative assessment
This research was led by Pam Menzies-Banton, Women4Women Coordinator at Positive East. The aim of this study is to explore the factors that influence the initial uptake and adherence among black African women living with HIV in London. This abstract was first presented as a poster presentation at the HPE Prevention England Conference 2024 (London, UK). It was later presented at the Fast Track Cities 2024 conference (Paris, France), BHIVA Spring Conference 2025, Brighton UK and the 2025 AIDS Impact Conference (Casablanca, Morocco).

GBMSM experiences of HIV prevention and care in London – findings from an interactive online assessment tool
This assessment was led by Grace Desouza, Research Performance Coordinator at Spectra CIC. The data collected was as a result of the work conducted by the GMI Partnership, a collaboration bbetween Spectra CIC, METRO Charity and Positive East. It aims to explore GBMSM experiences of HIV outreach and services as well as provide HIV prevention information to the community. This abstract was first presented as a poster at BHIVA Spring Conference 2024, Birmingham UK and then as an e-poster at the Fast Track Cities 2024 conference (Paris, France).

Factors to reduce disengagement from, and increase re-engagement into, care – an updated London-based literature review
This Literature review was conducted by Dr Anthony Furlonge as part of the GMI Partnership – a collaboration between Positive East, METRO Charity and Spectra CIC. The aim of this review is to present an updated, London-based report on factors which affect disengagement from care, and re-engagement into HIV care and can be subsequently used to shape treatment and care interventions. This was first presented as a poster presentation at the BHIVA Spring Conference 2024, Birmingham UK. It was subsequently presented as an oral presentation at the HPE Prevention England Conference 2024 (London, UK) and an e-poster at the Fast Track Cities 2024 conference (Paris, France).

PrEP awareness, access and adherence: a qualitative exploration between three minority population groups in London
This research was conducted through the GMI Partnership, a collaboration between Positive East, METRO Charity and Spectra CIC; it was led by Dr Renee West, GMI development Manager. This qualitative study explores PrEP awareness, access and adherence among people from Black African and Caribbean (BAC), Latin Gay, Bisexual and Men who have Sex with other Men (GBMSM) and trans and non-binary communities. Challenging Stigma Through the Lens of Art
This project was led by Pank Sethi, GMI Manager at Positive East. This project, presented as a photographic exhibition, addresses critical issues at the intersection of public health, criminal justice, and human rights, focusing on the stigma and discrimination faced by people living with HIV within the criminal justice system. This work was presented as a poster presentation at the 2025 AIDS Impact Conference (Casablanca, Morocco).

Investigating the influence of healthcare provider communication and language reframing on HIV PrEP uptake among Black African and Caribbean women
Maksida Sabackic, PharmD, AAHIVP, HIVPCP as an MSc research student at the Institute of Epidemiology and Health Care, University College London (IEHC/UCL) conducted this review as part of her MSc dissertation. This was a result of Positive East’s alliance with IEHC/UCL to encourage students to undertake relevant and meaningful research. This abstract was first presented as a poster presentation at the BHIVA Spring Conference 2025, Brighton UK and then as an oral presentation at the 2025 AIDS Impact Conference Casablanca, Morocco. Co-production of faith-based assets to improve HIV awareness, reduce stigma and promote prevention and treatment adherence
This work was led by Badru Male, Prevention and Testing Coordinator at Positive East. The aim was to co-create culturally relevant, faith-based booklets to increase HIV awareness among Muslim and Christian faith leaders and, by extension, their communities.
