City & Hackney Sessional Worker

Are you of man of African descent*? If so, this is an exciting opportunity to support our new Community project which aims to address the inequalities experienced by people aged 16+ from African and other racially minoritised communities in City of London and Hackney. We’ll support people from these communities to access HIV and sexual health prevention services, including LARC (Long-Acting Reversible Contraception), emergency contraception, condoms and lube, and PrEP, alongside testing for HIV and STIs. 

You will work with City & Hackney Coordinator to develop and deliver resources, workshops and training sessions. The sessions will be delivered in a range of community settings that are frequented by marginalised communities,

Advice Worker, Part-time, 21 hours per week, £30,000 pa pro rata + 6% pension contribution. One-year fixed-term contract.  

Positive East are looking to recruit an experienced Advice Worker on a one-year fixed-term contract. Positive East Advice team provides information, advice, advocacy, and support for people living with or affected by HIV. This includes welfare benefits advice, basic housing advice, immigration, employment issues referrals and practical support to help people access health and other governmental and local authority services. The team helps people complete various benefits, housing and applications to other charities for support.

The service is provided by telephone, video, email or through face-to-face meetings at our Stepney Green Centre, or at our outreach venues in East London HIV clinics.

Testing and Prevention Manager,  Part-time – 21 hours per week, £35,000 pro-rata plus 6% pension
contribution. One year fixed contract.

Positive East are a lived experienced organisation and we value the knowledge, experience and expertise of someone from the communities this project aims to support and empower.

 You will manage the outreach service of the GMI partnership (with partner charities METRO and Spectra). This will include the coordination of testing and outreach information and advice across London for the London HIV Prevention Programme for gay, bi and other men who have sex with men, and a Fast Track Cities funded programme for migrant communities.

You will support the Head of Prevention & Testing to coordinate and deliver activity across East London as part of our local authority-funded programmes. This includes coordinating volunteers, facilitating training and delivering reflective practice and meetings. You’ll work closely with the Research and Performance Manager at Spectra and the GMI Partnership and HIV Prevention Manager at Metro to ensure that performance and data reflect the contract requirements.

Volunteers are at the heart of the charity and enable us to support over 3,000 people per year! Last year nearly 1 out of 4 hours of our support services were delivered by our cohort of nearly 100 trained and passionate volunteers. 

Through volunteering with us you’ll be making a tremendous positive impact in your community whilst meeting new people, sharing your experiences and learning some new skills.

All of our volunteers will be supported by our dedicated Volunteer Manager and Team Leaders. All travel and lunch will be reimbursed.
