Aim of the grant fund

Applications are still being accepted. Please email steve.worral@positiveeast.org.uk or euriza.mata@positiveeast.org.uk for more information.

The aim of the grant fund is to develop a project or intervention to help improve and/or prevent poor sexual and reproductive health outcomes amongst Black African, Caribbean, and other racially minoritized communities in Hackney and City of London.

We are looking to fund projects that:

  • Improve access to information and education about good sexual and reproductive health and wellbeing
  • Improve referral pathways between non-clinical and clinical settings
  • Proactively addressing and reducing inequalities experienced by Black African, Caribbean, and racially minoritized communities
  • Promote the “Undetectable Equals Untransmittable” (“U=U”) message, and help to tackle HIV-related stigma through the normalisation of HIV and STI testing.

In developing projects:

Information/ guidance should be presented in a manner that is sensitive and relevant to cultural, religious, age, gender , sexual orientation and other needs of the target communities. It should be focused on clear calls to action and empowerment and be non-judgemental.

As much as possible, the project will commit to environmental sustainability including the use of recycled materials and reduce the use of printing and using printed materials (but recognizing that digital materials will not be suitable for all service users).

The fund is intended to fund one-off activities and will not fund repeat projects in the following years.

The themes of the fund this year are to influence and improve your own communities awareness of, access to, and uptake of either :

  1. PrEP
  2. HIV and STI testing
  3. Contraception (including LARC, oral and emergency) or
