In 1981 a condition identified as ‘Gay-Related Immune Deficiency’ (GRID) took hold in the United States. 40 years on and HIV is now a long-term manageable health condition in the UK.
Thanks to developments in treatment both HIV positive and negative people can take medication to prevent the onward transmission of HIV.
This session will explore how LGBTQ+ people have been impacted by HIV, drawing on print campaigns, films and TV shows, including ‘It’s A Sin’ to highlight a community approach to tackling an epidemic.
Please note that this workshop is open to people aged 18+ living, working or playing in East London.
