Wellbeing Matters: U=U (Undetectable equals Untransmittable)

September 14, 2023 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

The first of our new series of Wellbeing Matters hybrid (in-person and on Zoom) events, focusing on the health and wellbeing matters that people with HIV using our services have asked to learn more about.

This time it’s a focus on U=U – Undetectable equals Untransmittable.  Introduced and chaired by Positive East’s Head of Health and Wellbeing Jack Summerside, with an expert panel including:

Dr Rageshri Dhairyawan FRCP – Consultant in Sexual Health and HIV Medicine, Barts Health NHS Trust: What’s the evidence proving U=U, and how confident can we be that, as people with HIV, we cannot transmit it to others?

Mina Kakaiya – one of Positive East’s Peer Support Co-ordinators: What is the impact of understanding U=U for people living with HIV, especially women, and those from lower prevalence communities?

Andre Smith – Positive East’s Counselling Co-ordinator: What are the psychological challenges of understanding and accepting the U=U message, and what it means for us and current and future intimate relationships?

There’ll be time for you to ask questions and get answers. Doors open at 6.30 with the event running from 7pm to 8pm.

This event is taking place at Stratford Advice Arcade, just a few minutes walk from Stratford Rail and Underground Station.
